Hi. I'm Mattie.
I am 34 years old, married, and a mom of two boys (4 and 6). I LOVE coffee and donuts. I can't turn either of them down. Seriously. It's an addiction.
I started running just under two years ago because I was tired of feeling like a slob and wishing I was that runner I would see in my neighborhood. When I was younger, I used to be active in colorguard and dance. Even when I was pregnant with my first kiddo, I was still leaping and rolling to the floor with my own colorguard students. That's when it all went "downhill". I stopped taking care of myself (which isn't all that uncommon for moms). Like other women, I suffer from self image issues and having a baby didn't help.
After my second baby, I just had had enough and decided to start the Couch to 5k Program just after Christmas. It was free and since I wasn't going to the gym that we were paying for, I figured I could at least start at home. I ran my first 5k three months later and haven't looked back since.
How did you get into running?
